Development of Management Skills

Although at the same organizational level, not all managers have equally developed skills. Therefore, it’s important to assess the current skills level before furthering employees’ development. Based on the results, it is decided what specific skills should be developed.

This program is intended for middle management.

Last step in this program is analysis of the results with a consultant. The goal of this meeting is to:
•    clarify report results to the manager in questions,
•    gain acceptance of the results and
•    encourage change.

In most cases, the outcome is individual development plan, developed in agreement with the participant.
Main advantage of this assessment is identifying training and development needs. It represents a starting point for creating individual development plans. This assessment also decreases the number of participants in trainings by identifying areas for improvement and specific trainings that target underdeveloped skills. This improves motivation with participants because they attend only the trainings which are really needed for further advancement.

Development

Depending on the results of this assessment, the participant is advised to attend workshops on various subjects. Below is an example of possible workshops’ topics:
•    Introduction to management
•    Constructive Feedback
•    Problem Solving
•    Goal-setting
•    Planning
•    Conflict management
•    Teamwork
•    Communication Skills
•    Delegation
•    Performance Management etc.

Evaluation

Measuring management skills is repeated after a year of intensive development. Evaluation results are compared with starting results, we analyze improved areas/skills and we create a new development plan for those areas that the participant wants to improve further.
